This new film, directed by Ridley Scott, will give Napoleon Bonaparte the complete treatment and will be released in theatres in 2023 as well as on Apple TV Plus thereafter.
Having directed blockbuster historical dramas like Gladiator, Kingdom of Heaven, and Robin Hood, renowned British filmmaker Ridley is no stranger to huge historical dramas. However, in 2023, he will be delving into the life of the ruthless French leader Napoleon Bonaparte.

Joaquin Phoenix, the star of The Joker, plays the well-known French emperor, while Vanessa Kirby plays Josephine, his true love.
Even though the narrative is seen through the lens of their sometimes tumultuous relationship, some of Napoleon’s most well-known battles will be depicted in all their brutal splendour.

He is the younger brother of the late River Phoenix. He portrayed country music icon Johnny Cash in Walk The Line.
He has also acted in Buffalo Soldiers, Her, Mary Magdalene, and Hotel Rwanda. Additionally, Joaquin is set to return to the character of Arthur Fleck/The Joker in the 2024 release of Joker 2.
Vanessa Kirby portrays Empress Josephine, Napoleon’s well-known spouse. She played Princess Margaret in the first two seasons of The Crown, so this isn’t her first time playing a royal. Born in Corsica A political figure who gained notoriety during the French Revolution was Napoleon Bonaparte. One of the greatest military commanders in history, he overthrew Prussia, Russia, Austria, and the Holy Roman Empire to become the Emperor of France in 1804.
Approximately three to six million troops and citizens lost their lives under his leadership throughout the Napoleonic Wars. Napoleon wed Josephine twice, first in 1804 via religious ceremonies and again in 1976, but their union was tumultuous.
After losing to the Duke of Wellington in June 1815 at the Battle of Waterloo, Napoleon was banished by the British to Saint Helena in the Atlantic, where he passed away at the age of 51 in 1821.
